The present project builds on the current efforts of the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics - OGS to improve performance, flexibility, and extensibility of the oceanography transport models used to provide insights into climate, biogeochemical cycles, and regional hydrodynamics, enabling integration of new algorithms and adaptation to modern architectures. Working on the multi-node multi-GPU clusters of the CINECA supercomputing center, the tasks will include software performance analysis, implementation of new features for high resolution marine coastal modelling in modern HPC codes, as well as software optimization.
