This course introduces modern CPU architecture and design, illustrating the main building blocks of a CPU as the pipeline, the branch predictor, instruction decoder, prefetcher, etc. Next, there is an assembly language introduction, together with vector instruction sets (AVX2 and AVX-512) and advanced intrinsic instruction; moreover, Intel GPU architecture will be described, together with OpenMP offload programming model.
